Ecoustic Panels

Tick and tock…

New turns too old and present becomes past, now is the time to turn your fate.

We wanted to come up with a better solution for New Era and their faulty returns, factory defects, dead stock fabrics, and unsold sample sets.

So we asked ourselves…

Can waste

facilitate creativity?

In the first lockdown

We saw a massive surge in social media live streaming and prerecorded content. Some of the talented individuals who were attempting to create great sound quality were being really creative with their ‘sound booths’. We saw towels, blankets, and duvets stapled to walls and doors. We saw egg boxes glued to boards and placed around the room... we even saw mattresses bent over to make a tunnel in which to record.

We explored what could be done with surplus materials and products.

We picked apart, melted and shredded

All in the name of research

Plastic bags, cap peaks, and fastenings were melted into workable sheets to create the chassis, a mixture of shredded fabrics that serve as sound diffusion, and deadstock materials used as upholstery.

The result is one hundred acoustic sound panels which we called ECOustic, made entirely from one ton of byproducts. The sound panels are being donated to local community music studios, up-and-coming talent, and some of our favourite artists across Europe.

To shed light on the campaign, spoken word artist James Messiah tells our story in a one-minute film, written and directed by Are You Mad.
